Cork and More Tahoe Website Re-Design & Migration

TPH Migrates & Redesigns Lake Tahoe’s the Cork and More Website

Tahoe Production House was recently asked to migrate the Cork & More Lake Tahoe’s static HTML website to a WordPress based website.

The Cork & More Lake Tahoe had a robust, very functional static HTML website that was designed years ago. The issue they were constantly faced with was every time they needed to change simple content on the website, they had to call their web master to make the changes. No one working at the Cork & More can write HTML so simple changes required a phone call to the web master. Ultimately, the process was inefficient and expensive.

When discussing the Cork & More’s long term needs for the website, it was apparent that the time had come to move them to a dynamic, content management based website that would enable anyone at the Cork & More to make simple written content and photo content changes without any knowledge of HTML.

The beauty of the most popular CMS websites available (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal) is that every web page on a website has a content editor that looks very close to a standard MS Word text editing page. Additionally, when making the content changes in the editor, the user sees their changes in “real-time”  (i.e., in computing this type of user interface is referred to as WYSIWYG or What You See is What You Get). They also wanted to post monthly newsletters, upcoming events and specials on the website via a blog function. Ultimately, we chose WordPress to launch their new CMS website as it is our absolute favorite Open Source CMS/Blog platform.

While we were migrating the Cork and More’s old website to WordPress, we felt this was a good idea to give the design a facelift…We launched a new design for the website that features current web design aesthetics of a full width layout (rather than the “boxed-in” look of a traditional static html website), use of a large homepage slideshow and a clean color scheme of white, green and gray.
